ACTING WORKSHOPS

Weekly Acting workshops on Thursday nights, led by professional Actor and Drama Teacher Michael King in our Moira Haywood Studio.

Our workshops focus on developing key acting skills, such as projection & articulation (Voice), The Stanislavsky technique, emotional memory, embodiment of a character, animal acting, and much much more.

There are two workshops available.

Beginners / Intermediate : 18:30 – 20:00
Advanced: 20:15 – 21:45

Non-members: £8 per session

LDS members: £4 per session

20% Discount when 5 sessions or more purchased in a single transaction.

 

We encourage new joiners to come to the beginners / intermediate class to begin with and then talk to Michael about whether you’d like move up to advanced.

Participants can also pay by card on arrival so long as there are places left.

No session for half term on Thu 10th May

Dates for future terms will be announced as we go along.

 

Our workshops are designed for participants aged 16 and above. If you are under 16 and would like to learn about acting, then have a look at our Youth Theatre activities.

If you are not a member yet, but would like to get involved, it’s very easy to become one. Just click here for details (and your first year as a member is free).

 

Bursaries

We do have two places per 5 week period available by way of a means tested bursary. Contact the theatre at hello@thelittletheatre.co.uk for more details if you are interested in applying for this.

 

About Michael King

Like many actors in Melbourne, Australia, Michael appeared in various TV shows, including Neighbours and Blue Healers. On stage he acted with The Victorian State Opera, along with working with a wide variety of theatre companies,  including being a founding member of a collective Theatre in education company.

He trained at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, and in the UK has acted in several stage productions, independent films, and as a voice over artist in animation, computer games and most notably as the voice for a certain Australian beer.

After teaching Drama on weekends for many years, Michael gained his Qualified Teacher Status in Drama from University College London in 2016, and has been teaching Drama in several schools around Leicestershire, as well as at Addict Dance academy.
